Book Sale: A. Grace explained the Library’s business relationship with Mr. Purmort, who now holds 123 of the Library’s books for sale. B) Grace explained why selling books to Encore, in W. Lebanon, was not profitable (16 books netted the Library $12). C) Grace and Dale feel that the Library should divest itself of its collection of the St. Nicholas bound volumes, as they are deteriorating in basement storage, and are in the way of the book sale collection of books. D) It was suggested that the Library advertise for more consistent book sale donations throughout the year, in order to avoid the last minute donation "crunch" experienced each spring. Tour/Sweepstakes: Dale r eported on the number of stores and shoppers which have been enrolled. Some discussion on the event in general and methods of getting shoppers in particular. Silent Auction: It has been postponed until next spring, due to the Sweepstakes being run this fall. Ways of improving the items offered and the income on them for the Friends were discussed. Author Luncheons: General suggestions made: A) To be held one time per year, just to keep it going. B) To engage a more famous author, to garner attendence. C) To make it a day-long event in which the author is only one component. D) To downplay the fundraising aspect, and spin it as more of a celebration of some sort. E) To have author(s) lead mini-workshops on the various aspects of being a [published] writer. F) To feature an open-mic session for aspiring poets and short story writers. | |
