1. Call to Order: 7:05 p.m.
2. Minutes, September 9, 2004 - Approved.
3. Treasurer's Report
  Previous Month's Income: $2,877.35

Previous Month's Expenses: $464.80

Other: Dale and Karen are in the process of moving the books over to Quicken and new reports will be available next month.

Motion to Approve: Passed (Unanimous).
5. Correspondence
OUT: Letter of thanks to Lori Parker for food donated for Moondance. Reminder: All correspondence is kept in binder in Library office for Board Member viewing.
6. Managers' Reports
Tour/Sweepstakes: Currently 65 shoppers are signed up.

Book Sale: Vestibule income is holding steady at $50-60 per month; donations are sporadic and the quality is uneven. Dale wrote a column for the Windsor Area Observer detailing what sort of books the library wants for its annual booksale; Purmort sales (online) are slow; Grace will contact him when she returns from vacation.

Silent Auction: Planning for spring 2005.

Moondance: The consensus is that the effort was worthwhile: four new members recruited; two new shoppers signed up; $26.50 in food (which paid for the table space).
7. Old Business
St. Nicholas Bound Volumes: Jen has given Dale and Grace the contact information on two parties who may be interested in these volumes. Dale will contact them.

Membership Gifts: Lots of magnets left. Still favoring a bookmark for next membership gift.

Sculpture: $300 from the proceeds of every fundraiser is earmarked for the seed money to have a Larry Nolan sculpture be bronzed for the library (total cost $5450). Further investigation is needed, as there is considerable confusion surrounding this issue.
8. New Business
Theatre Group: Sandy suggested the Friends form a community theatre group. This idea was well received.

New Friends Purchases: Last year the Friends gave the library $5000 (to be expended in calender 2004) to help cover operating expenses. It is getting time to consider what the nature of the Friends donation to the library will be for 2005.
9. Other Business
New Enrollment Form: Dale has made up a new form. All agreed that it is an improvement over the previous form.

Newsletter: Sandy suggested the Friends send out a regular newsletter (frequency undetermined), perhaps via the Observer, the school newsletter, email, or regular mail. Or perhaps send it with library’s annual mailing, and/or place it on the circulation desk. Sandy will bring newsletter ideas to next meeting.

Grassroots Library Support: : It was suggested that folks host meetings in their homes to generate more interest in, and enthusiasm for, the library and its services.
10. Next Meeting: November 11, 2004, 7 p.m.
11. Adjournment: 8:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Shanks, Secretary
