Friends of Windsor Library
December 9, 2004, 7:00 p.m.
Minutes

Attending Executive Board Members: Dale Copps, President; Heather Shanks, Secretary.

Absent Executive Committee Members: Sandy Soho, Vice President; Karen Woodward, Treasurer; Amy McMullen, Manager, Silent Auction.

Other Board Members Attending: Kerry Clifford, Jennifer Cary, Library Director (ex officio).

Other Board Members Not Attending: Ilene Beattie.

1. Call to Order: 7:04pm
2. Minutes, November 11, 2004 - Approved unanimously, with one correction.
3. Treasurer's Report
  Previous Month's Income: $265.80

Previous Month's Expenses: 766.08

Other: Karen Woodward absent. Report presented by Dale Copps.

Motion to Approve: Passed unanimously.
5. Correspondence
  IN: None.

OUT: Winning gift certificates were mailed to those winners who were not present at the drawing for the sweepstakes. Dale sent a three-page wrap-up of the tour and sweepstakes to the participating stores.
6. Managers' Reports
Tour/Sweepstakes: Was a success. Eleven stores and 74 shoppers participated. Grace Batesole was Grand Prize winner. The Friends netted a bit over $2,200--final report will be provided at the January meeting.

Book Sale: Periodicals are now being offered for 25 cents in the vestibule. Motion: that the Friends approach Christopher’s Cakes and Pastries, located in the old fire house, about setting up a small book sale area. Passed unanimously.
7. Old Business
St. Nicholas periodicals: These have been recycled.
8. New Business
Play: The meeting on December 4th generated some interest, but the following are still needed if a play is to be produced: Technical Director, Stage Manager, PR Manager, two thousand dollars in seed money. It is felt that there probably isn’t enough time to put something together by March (when we would have had free access to the school’s theater).

501(c)(3): Application to be submitted soon after Jan 1.

Vestibule/porch lights: Electrician (Walt Smith) quoted fee of $150 to install this light (so, work clearly not to be donated). Motion: to authorize Walt to do the work, with a $200 cap, but including a provision for a delayed off switch at night so librarians can find their way down the stairs before light goes off. Approved unanimously.

Woodwork refinishing: For next year sometime. Jen has pointed out that the mantles and tables are in need of refinishing. Looking for estimate on work.
10. Next Meeting: January 18, 2005, 7pm (Note: a Tuesday--not our regular scheduled meeting date.)
11. Adjournment: 8:14 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Heather Shanks, Secretary
