Book Sales: Bad week at the Nook, only three books sold. Jane and Ted volunteered to see if we could have a book outlet at the Windsor House by the cafe. Jane will see if the cafe workers are willing to collect the money. Friends to vote on this possible venue at next month's meeting. Art on a Limb: Accounts for this fundraiser have been adjusted. Limb made a few hundred dollars less than originally thought. The Tour: Dale will put in for a grant with the Byrne Foundation for seed money to enroll 4,000 Upper Valley residents without charging an upfront fee for enrolling. He will get the names from voter checklists in participating towns.

Get-Out-the-Vote Campaign: We will do bookmarks with statistics; talking points form; poster; and letter to Friends. Mailing was approved. AED: Dale spoke with Mike Tidwell at Fire Dept. For $2,418, the AED unit comes with cabinet, battery, and a spare battery. Training is additional. Need to check insurance to see how the AED might affect coverage. Need to have approval from Trustees before purchasing. Jane Osgood suggested that library check with Red Cross to see if they are still giving away free AEDs. Jen will look into this. Question raised: would the AED be only for the Library’s use, or could it be more of a community asset? Lock on Bathroom Door: Coming soon (Glenn Ricard will install). Closed Circuit TV Reader: $4,000 for a table-top model, about the size of the microfiche machine. $2,195 for the handheld unit. Dale has suggested that everyone look over material online, think about it, and talk more about it next month. Kerry to send URLs to board members. Bert's gift: Suggestions for use: purchase CCTV; endow prize for a high school or middle school student showing promise in the Humanities. Trustees also talking about the gift - perhaps working with them. Fundraising Ideas: Nothing new yet.

Trustee Offer: Dale sent a letter to Trustees offering to recommend to the Friends Board that we assist them in this year's extraordinary fundraising if, in turn, they would take certain steps to strengthen public funding of library operating expenses in future. Playreading Fundraiser: A reading of The Bald Soprano, to take place late in March [later scheduled for April 1], at the Legion. Tickets no more than $10, donated refreshments after. Will hold auditions, have five or six rehearsals. Probably about $150 to produce; expect to net up to $500. The sense of the meeting was that Dale should go ahead with this. Renewal Time Coming Up: In May. More discussion on this next month.
