Dale acknowledged the people who make the Friends a special organization: Absent Friends: Bert Frothingham, Martha Connell, Beryl Hinton Introduction of the Board, with special thanks to departing Heather Shanks, for her superb talents and tireless service for the Friends. Staff acknowledged and thanked: Jen Cary, Sarah Tufts, Amy McMullan, Nancy Lebow; substitutes Janet Derick and Cathy Hoyt Grace Batesole for ongoing stewardship of the book sales Pat Meader as volunteer auditor Thanks to Pam Bagley, Mona Noel, and Jean Saltmarsh for the treats. Bert Frothingham Memorial Fund This intiative of the Trustees was briefly discussed, and flyers were handed out to all Friends present. This is to be a restricted endowment fund with a minimum goal of $50,000. Income and proceeds will be used to promote reading through the acquisition of works of quality literature, as well as unabridged audio books and poetry, subscriptions, potential matching grants, and other program materials for people of all ages. | |

| President's Report | |
| Dale will step down as president for the final year in his term. Highlights of his two years as president include the writing of the bylaws and the procurement of 501(c)(3) status. Membership increased significantly, as did revenues, primarily through donations and book sales. | |

| Pamela Bagley brought a copy of Bert Frothingham's obituary from the Boston Globe and offered to copy it for anyone who wanted it. | |
| Election of Officers | |
| Paula Dart, Robert Pantel, and Karen Tyler were nominated. Each spoke briefly about themselves, then the group voted on them as a bloc, and they were unanimously elected to three-year terms. | |
| Volunteer of the Year Award | |
| This year, in honor of her long and devoted service as coordinator of the Volunteer program, the Board asked Beryl Hinton to choose the Volunteer of the Year Award, and she chose Marjorie Harrington. Neither was present at the meeting. | |
