  • At the annual meeting of the FWL, Dale Copps was thanked for his years of service on the FWL board and his continued dedication.

No Formal Agenda.

Treasurer's Report

  • Review of treasurer’s report.
  • New Officers (Beth Carlson and Rebecca Haynes) were added as signers to the FWL checking account.
  • Discussion of Book Nook Sales, and comparison between its location at Christopher’s Bakery and the No Name Café.

Unfinished Business

  • Review of Heritage Days Book Sale July 7th and 8th (Dale Copps manager): A few volunteers are still needed to cover shifts on Saturday and to set up for the sale early Saturday morning. Detailed schedule and responsibilities is available on the FWL website. Discussion on whether or not to rent or purchase tent canopies for future sales and events. Discussion on how books are sorted for sale, and the idea of a “cheap book” bin for next year.
  • Art on a Limb II (Dale Copps manager): General review of Art on a Limb. 2-3 Vermont artists are still needed. Leaves will be turned in by August 15th and auctioned on October 14th. Discussion on ways the leaves can be displayed/advertised before the auction.

New Business:

Fundraising Ideas

·        Vermont State Seal T-Shirts (Ruth Doiron): These t-shirts used to be sold at the Constitution House and could be sold by the FWL at Heritage Days and the Moon Dance. Research on cost and order size for next meeting.

·        Back Stock: bring out back stock of old FWL merchandize to sell at Heritage Days and Moon Dance.

·        Harpoon Brewery’s BBQ (Mark Eyerman): It may be possible to get a booth donated to the FWL for a bake sale stand. This could generate a lot of funds since there are mainly food competitors, and not vendors for the public, at the BBQ. Report back at next meeting.

·        Cheese and Beer (Beth Carlson): Possibility of getting local cheese makers and beer makers as a fundraising event. Report back at next meeting.

Chris Thomas Architecture Lectures (Jason Carlson)

·        The leading scholar on Henry Bacon (the library’s architect) has volunteered to give two programs on August 1st or 2nd. The morning program would emphasize the history of our library and preservation efforts. The evening program (hopefully hosted by the Juniper Inn and serving as a FWL fundraiser) would emphasize the larger work of Henry Bacon.

·        The chance to host this expert can increase our knowledge base of the library and build community awareness.

·        Chris Thomas would hopefully be hosted by both the FWL and the Trustees of the Library.

·        A motion was made and passed to provide $250 for transportation (bus) and lodging (discounted room at the Juniper Hill Inn) for Chris Thomas.

                           FWL and Library Trustees Potluck

·        On July 22nd the boards of the FWL and LT will host a BBQ/Potluck at the fairgrounds from 1-3pm. A mixture of work and fun.

Books on Tape versus Books on MP3’s (Karen Tyler)

·        A discussion on the possibility of acquiring “Play Away” books on MP3-like devices for the library. Karen will do some more research and report back.

Next Meeting: July 12, 2007 7:00pm

Adjournment: 8:03 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Rebecca Haynes, Co-Secretary
