Meeting Called to order on November 8th, 2007 at 7:02 pm

 

Board members absent:  Karen Tyler and Rebecca Haynes

 

Friends members present:  Dale Copps and Grace Batesole

 

Approved October minutes:  Approved by Beth and seconded by Mark

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Approved by all

 

Attending Member’s comments:  Dale Copps will no longer run the Book Nook.  It was discussed whether it should move out of NoName Café due to thefts.  Suggestions for alternate sites included Knave of Hearts, Three Seasons, Pizza Chef, and the upcoming general store.  Robert volunteered to speak with Alba and also Nate Larson.  Suggestions to avoid theft of money was to have lock box for book fees.  This would eliminate need for someone to do inventory, but would not eliminate book thefts.  Several members volunteered to take turns checking box for donations as well as replacing books as needed.;

 

New Business: 

 

1)The library Board of Trustees meeting was attended by Robert.  The trustees would like to adopt a policy that would require approval of all fundraising events done in the name of the library.

 

    a)The trustees want to give advance approval of the use of any library staff.

 

    b)The trustees want to approve any gifts to the library.  They did approve of the Friends buying a camera for the children’s program.  Robert is looking into getting it from Best Buy. 

 

    c)The Trustees did not like that proceeds of Art on a Limb benefited all involved VT libraries instead of all proceeds going to Windsor.

 

 

2)  There was discussion on how to clarify where the Friends fit in regard to the library , as well its relationship with the Trustees.  Robert thought in order to improve our relationship with the Trustees, it would be helpful to have a copy of their minutes.Their next meeting is November 27th.

 

3)  Beer and cheese tasting:  Gathering various home brewer’s  vs using established local breweries was discussed.  Beth agreed to contact local cheese makers and look into contacting local home brewers.  Mark will assist.  Several venues were discussed including Juniper Hill, Harpoon, and the Legion.  Mark suggested possibly combining it with a silent auction. We would hope to hold such event in the spring.  We will discuss it further at the next meeting.
