Ms. Dowley lives in Stowe. Her love of animals inspires her art. She studied at the Parsons School of Design and worked many years for Hallmark Cards, until her entrepreneurial spirit moved her to establish her own design company which she has run successfully from her home for 16 years—with help from two canine assistants.
Our photograph doesn’t do justice to Ms. Dowley’s mixed media collage, “Happy Thoughts.” The cheerful cat is constructed of four layers of wood and canvas around which a halo of leaf cutouts bring an overall glow to the piece.
