Janet McKenzie

Ms. McKenzie lives in Island Pond. Her well-known painting, “Jesus of the People,” won a global competition, among nearly 1,700 entries, for a new image of Jesus at the Millennium, judged by Sister Wendy Beckett of BBC fame. Ms. McKenzie's main body of work depicts sacred and secular images of women, strong, beautiful, thought provoking, and often haunting.

Her contribution to Art on a Limb, “The Dark Madonna Leaf,” is representative of the evocative, iconographic representations of women that characterize her work.
