The Auction: September 1 to October 14

The Art on a Limb auction will take place online from September 1 through October 14, and then will culminate in a live Final Day Auction on October 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) at the Knave of Hearts Museum Café in Windsor, Vermont, located in the old Firehouse at 147 Main Street, between the two stoplights.

How You Can Take Part

“Bidding rights” in the Art on a Limb Auction are obtained by contributing $25 to the Vermont public library of your choice. The contribution can be taken as a credit toward a winning bid on a leaf or, in the alternative, can be taken as a tax-deductible charitable contribution.

Print the form, fill it in, make your check out to Friends of Windsor Library (the manager of the event), and mail it to:

Include a check for $25 for each individual who will be bidding online, attending the live Final Day Auction on October 14, 2007, at 2 p.m. EDT, or providing the event manager with one or more “Left Bids” (see the signup form for details). (If you are planning to bid online and attend the auction, only one $25 fee is required.)

Bidding Online

The signup form includes spaces to designate, at your option, up to five leaves for which you would like to place a bid immediately or provide the event manager with a Left Bid, and the amount of those bids. If you wish to bid on more than five leaves, simply attach a list of additional leaves, and your bids, to the form.

Please note, the minimum “floor” bid on all leaves is $50.

The Current High Bid on each leaf will appear on the leaf’s “personal page” on the web site. Click the link below to see an example:

Note the Current High Bid under the title of the leaf and the link, “Enter a Bid.” If you wish to enter a bid online that is higher than the Current High Bid, click the link and enter your name and bid in the body of the email message that automatically opens up, then click Send. (If the link does not open up an email message, simply send an email to artonalimb@yahoo.com with the name of the artist, title of the leaf, your name, and your bid in the body of the message.)

Note that bids will be required in increments of at least $5 while the Current High Bid is under $100; $10 while the Current High Bid is between $100 and $299; $25 while the Current High Bid is between $300 and $599; and $50 while the Current High Bid is $600 or more.

The Current High Bids will be updated as email bids are received, from September 1 through October 14.

NOTE: NO BIDS WILL BE ACCEPTED VIA EMAIL AFTER 6:00 A.M. EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON OCTOBER 14, 2007.

Bidding “Live” at the Final Day Auction (October 14)

The Current High Bid on each leaf will be the Opening Bid at the live auction, to commence at 2 p.m. EDT, October 14, 2007, at the Knave of Hearts Museum Café in Windsor, Vermont, located in the old Firehouse on the east side of Main Street between the two stoplights. If there is no Current High Bid on a leaf, the Opening Bid required will be $50.

The individual who held the Current High Bid at 6 a.m. EDT on the morning of October 14 will, at their option, have the opportunity to bid via phone against any live bidders at the auction. The auction manager will call them, at the number provided on the Signup Form, at the time their leaf is presented for sale. If there is no answer after ten rings, OR an answering machine answers, OR there is a busy signal, the Current High Bidder will lose the opportunity to bid against the live bidders, and the sale of the leaf will proceed.
