Karen Brooks lives in Montpelier—our only "capital" artist. She is an illustrator and sculptor as well as a painter, and is currently creating and exhibiting paper sculptures. Her work is on show throughout Central Vermont and in the Burlington area.

Says Karen, “I work as a Public Health Nurse. My art is offered as an expression of gratitude for the healing force in the world, and for all who work to protect and restore it.”

A perfect gem to hang on a young child's wall, Karen's “By the Pond” (acrylic on wood) portrays a cheeky fish and a sleepy frog, with great swirls of color guiding the eye around a menagerie of wildlife and off to the green, then purple, hills and beyond.
